Ever since Izaac's knock on the head, we had decided to buy the safety corner cushions to prevent another accident from happening again. Especially for Athina as she had just started to learn to walk. It’s easy to lose her balance as she is walking unsteadily. Another thing is that the design of our place is not very child-proofed. There are quite a few of sharp corners and all are at the knee level, which would be a “dangerous” spot for the little Athina.

Papa Tang bought some safety cover cushions protectors for the sharp corners. The safety cover cushions are actually quite easy to use. All we need to do is use the double-sided adhesive tape and paste the cushions at the sharp corners.

After pasting the cushions, Athina is curious about it and tries to pull the cushion a few times and soon the double-sided tape lose its stickiness. Although Athina did not knock onto the sharp corner, the others in the family knocked into the corner instead. I think the best way is to use glue to stick it. Or another way is to screw into it.

It's Friday! And a public holiday! It was a relaxing day where we don't have to work. But something happened before we were about to get our lunch.

Izaac knocked against the corner of the wall while running to the kitchen to look for our maid.

We got a shock when we see Izaac's face full of blood. The first thought was to bring him to the hospital immediately. I cleaned up Izaac's one side of the face, which was covered with blood while Papa Tang changed his clothes. And luckily the blood did manage to stop before we went to the hospital. However the wound was deep.

Finally we had fixed up the baby crib which was passed back to us from our relative after we passed to them 3 years back. The baby crib which could be converted to a toddler bed was still in good condition after 4 years. The only thing that we need to get for the baby crib is the mattress. As baby’s bones are softest and growing faster than any other time, baby will need extra support for their growing bodies more now than they ever will later. Therefore, choosing a good mattress is important.

Here are some of the factors that need to consider when choosing a baby crib mattress:

1. The size of the mattress.
- The mattress should fit fairly tight inside the crib. There shouldn't be an obvious gap between the crib frame and mattress, and we shouldn't be able to push more than one finger down in between the mattress and crib frame. Remember to measure the inside of the crib and measure against the crib mattress. This is to prevent accidents like baby’s head, hands or legs to be trapped.

It's really a sick month for us. After Izaac recovered from HFMD (thanks to all for your concern), Amilie got Viral Gastroenteritis and she started vomiting on 19th, as she kept vomiting, she had to be admitted to the hospital to be on drip. She was discharged yesterday.
After she was discharged, I got it too. I started vomiting and having diarrhea after I woke up from my nap, I hadn't sleep well since 19th. See the doctor and though no more vomiting, my tummy was still 'grumpy'.
Then in the middle of the night, Izaac started vomiting too. And he was on drip now in hospital too.
Now, we have to wait for Izaac to recover and come home. Hope Izaac can recover and come home and spare of the needle. This is really a bad month for us.

Toddlers can be fussy eaters who refuse to try a new food at least half of the time. Approximately half of all toddlers fit this description, so it is no wonder that food issues are a source of stress for parents.

Establishing healthy eating patterns is important to avoid problems such as obesity and eating disorders later in life. Various strategies can help your child accept a wider range of foods. It may be necessary to offer a food to your child as many as 10 different times before they choose to eat it. The problem is, many parents get frustrated and give up before the fourth or fifth try.

Try to make foods fun. Colorful foods like carrot sticks, raisins, apples, grapes, cheese sticks and crackers can all be fun and healthy choices for your growing toddler. Explain to them that eating good food is important so they'll grow big and strong, and how it will help them run faster and play longer.

Received this email from my colleague and heard it on the radio too. Seems effective. 🙂

Just to share.... 🙂

Try this remedy :
It works 100{7ea3012a3fe9a8f6feb351cee9b24ae0111ecfcefe6ccc6089ac9e077d995783} of the time although the scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered it) aren't sure why.

To stop nighttime coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks.

Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100{7ea3012a3fe9a8f6feb351cee9b24ae0111ecfcefe6ccc6089ac9e077d995783} of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly.

It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

An adult friend tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100{7ea3012a3fe9a8f6feb351cee9b24ae0111ecfcefe6ccc6089ac9e077d995783}! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, ( incredibly annoying!) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free for hours every night that she used it. So, if you have kids/grandchildren, pass it on. If you end up sick, try yourself and you will be absolutely amazed.
