What’s your favourite dating haunts?
Singapore although small in size, it does have a lot of interesting places for dating or married couples.
For a lot of couples, a normal date will involves a meal follow by a movie or a couple drinks, and maybe some window shopping.
For me and my wife, we always like to take a long slow work after a meal, preferably some place quiet and away from the city’s bustle.
Before we got married, we always like to go down to Tanjong Rhu and take a slow walk along the Kallang river overlooking the indoor stadium, the scenery was beautiful and the ambience quiet and as we walked along those steps, we talked about our dreams and aspirations. At that time, there’s this bazaar or pasar malam around and we would take our time to look through the things on display over there. I wondered whether this bazaar do exist anymore.
Nowadays, we prefer our long walks along the Singapore river instead. After a movie cum meal at either Tiong Bahru Plaza or Great World City, we would proceed to the footpath along the Singapore River alongside Kim Seng Plaza and from there; we would take our slow walk till Diamaru or Clarke Quay. Along the way we would discuss the week’s events, the progress of our two fine children and other miscellaneous stuff.
This weekly affair is something I’ve always look forward to in my busy schedule; this weekly date allows me to spend some quality time with my wife. I wondered if there are any other similar places whereby one can take a long slow walk to relax and unwind.
Do you have any recommendations?
My CNY 2007 (Part 1)
Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy New Year! It’s been very long since some one in the family updated anything. Everyone is busy and tired after a few days of CNY outings. For some there will be visits to the relatives. For me, going gai gai during this few days.
Friday:
We had our reunion dinner at home. Everybody except didi was present. Great-grandma was at the table with us too as she was staying over at our place.
Saturday, CNY eve
Around 6pm, daddy and mummy brought me to Chinatown. Great-Uncle drove us to Harbourfront Station to take MRT there.
Took a few pictures with the CNY display at Harbourfront before proceeding to MacDonald for dinner. We didn’t took our dinner at Chinatown because Daddy was afraid that it would be too crowded to have dinner there.
After finishing dinner, we took the North-East line from Harbourfront to Chinatown. I am getting all excited about the fireworks later on… Yippee!
When we arrived at Chinatown, it was quite packed with people. We got ourselves a spot near to a shop where there was aircon, but as the place become more packed. Daddy suggested to change to Esplanade as he was afraid that it would be too warm and uncomfortable for me.
We make (walked) our way to Esplanade from Chinatown. Along the way, we took pictures with the decorations displayed at the entrance of the shopping complex.
Stopped by Clarke Quay to look at the boats (Seeing the boat for the 1st time) and drink my milk. (Hungry!)
By the time we reach Esplanade it was quite crowded with people. While daddy was busy reading the fortune of the horoscopes for the coming year, mummy snapped a picture of me with my chinese horoscope. After all the phototaking and buying of snacks at the River Hongbao.
We went over to the Merlion there and found ourselves a good spot for the fireworks.
At 12am, a loud “BOOM” was heard in the sky and there was the fireworks. Daddy managed to capture abit of the fireworks with the camcorder before the camera went off (Muddlehead Mummy forgot to brought an extra battery). Here’s what we capture.
After the fireworks, I was so tired that I fell asleep on the stroller while waiting for the bus. And I didn’t bother to wake up when mummy carried me up the bus and home.

A Special Valentine’s Day
Happy V-Day! Today’s V-Day, went to work as usual cos’ Dear wasn’t free in the day time. Therefore we decided to meet at night for dinner.
Hubby gave me a surprise today! So happy! Around 4pm, still working in the office, suddenly someone called my name. Call me to receive my flowers. Hubby had ordered flowers to deliver to my place. Oh My! So surprised!
After I got my flowers, I couldn’t contained my feelings! Couldn’t speak in my normal tone. Too happy, too shocked!
Haha! Even now I am still beaming with smile. Didn’t expect that he sent flowers to my office cos’ he always told me that it’s very expensive. Asked him why he would sent to my place, he replied that he wouldn’t want to hold the bunch of flowers while waiting for me.
And also I would feel shiok if I received my flowers in my office. And Yeah! To tell the truth, I do enjoy the shiok feeling. Haha!
Took our neoprint. I love taking neoprints. Hehe!
Went to watch Epic Movie. Well, an hour of boring show. To me, not worth the money to watch that show.
Overall this morning, I do enjoy this year’s V-day. It’s a surprised V-day. Thanks Dear for your effort. Love ya’.
Pre-Reunion Dinner
This evening, we had a dinner with my paternal family @ a coffee-shop at Ghim Moh. Great-grandma & great-uncles were there. Papa & Mummy came late & we started the dinner without them first cos we are hungry. The aunties & uncles ordered a lot of dishes.
By the time Papa & Mummy came, we had almost finished our dinner. Then the uncles ordered some more dishes. Guess papa had a hard time finish all the dishes.
(He doesn’t like to waste food). Hmm… as they were eating their dinner, I was wondering why is it so special to have this dinner. Then I found out from mummy that it is supposed to be a reunion dinner with great-grandma. Our reunion with shu-shus would be on another day. Our official traditional dinner would be on Saturday which is the Chinese New Year’s Eve! So busy! So many dinners to attend! Amilie busy!
While Papa was trying to finish the food, Mummy brought me to the playground to play for a short while. So happy! After a while, mummy’s phone rang & we went back to the coffee shop. Hmm… everyone was taking a new pair of chopsticks & standing up….
Then, everyone started to ‘attack’ a plate of dish (known as Yu Sheng) & throwing the food up in the air shouting some auspicious phrases… Heard alot of winning lottery… Haha! Seems fun…next time I also want to play!
Romantic
What is romantic?
A guy cycling with the girl holding umbrella in the rain?
A man knowing that the wife like the wantons, gave all of his to her. The wife passing back some of him saying that she couldn’t finish all?
Husband and Wife eating their dinner under the shade of the umbrella in the rain?
Old married couple strolling hand-in-hand after a hearty dinner?
So how romantic are you?

Hot Baby
Today went shopping with Amilie. Bought a pair of shoes for her. Abit regret buying that now, find the shoes fanciful and not sure whether would it suit any outfits. Haiz.. bought the shoes on impulse. Thinking that I wouldn’t be shopping for CNY clothes after today. Shouldn’t have went out today. Was still feeling sleepy when I stepped out of the house.
Woke up at 2am by Izaac’s loud cry. Fed him milk but he din finish. I was so sleepy that I fell asleep before him. Luckily Papa Tang was around. Heard that Izaac slept after Papa Tang on the aircon. Haiz… since birth, Izaac’s alwiz sleeping in a ‘cool’ environment, otherwise he wouldn’t sleep. Think he is really ’scared of heat’ huh?
Not only was he ‘afraid of hot’, his temper is also very hot! Once, when Amilie was trying to kiss him (he doesn’t really like people to hold his head), he was so angry that he shouted out & shocked Amilie and me. Another time, he was sitting at the stroller, he wanted to get up of the stroller, he shaked the stroller so hard that it feels like it would topple down anytime. He alwiz like to cry & scream when he is unhappy or when he wanted to be carried. He is impatient.
Recently started thinking what can I do to simmer his fiery temper. Wonder whether is it due to his chinese name where there is too much ‘fire’ for him. (Yah, I do believe in Feng Shui). His chinese name, å¦é˜³, chosen by my mum, its means to learn (å¦) to be as bright as the sun (阳). Well, was thinking whether he got the temper as the sun too. But I do like the name alot, so I think I would not be changing another for him (and also there would be some fees too).
å¦é˜³ - also hopes that he would å¦ä»¥è‡´ç”¨ 阳行天助 meaning whatever he learn & do (good things) heaven would help him. He would be able to achieved in everything. Guess that’s what most parents would hope for their kids bah?
Maybe I could try to find somethings for him to wear to ‘cool’ his temper. Any suggestions?
Chocolate from Nippon-ya
Bought this rice flour chocolate (strawberry flavour) called Chocotto Ichigo from Nippon-ya.
Taste very nice & sweet. Was telling hubby can buy this for CNY goodies. Hah! But guess it’s abit expensive.
The box is nicely wrapped (a good idea to give as a gift)
Inside the box, there are 16 of the chocolate. (1 box cost about $13+)
The filling is chocolate & its really very nice. Couldn’t stop eating after eating 1. Took a picture to show the yummy chocolate inside the strawberry rice flour.
Oops…
forgot to tell you. The shop selling different Japanese chocolates & goodies is located at Central basement 1. If you happen to be there, you can drop by the shop and take a look. I know there are other different flavours. Think next time I wanna try the Green Tea flavour. Hehe…
Fights
Hah! If someone were to tell me baby can’t fight before Izaac came along, I would have agreed totally. But now, haiz…. absolutely disagree. Well, recently, my boy has been fighting with his sis. They snatched things from each other. Though most of the time Amilie won (Cos she can run away) but I got a feeling when Izaac do know how to walk. I am going to have a hard time.
1) Fight for attention: Amilie resting on Papa’s leg. Izaac crawled to Papa. Amilie pushed Izaac away. And the pushing begin…
2) Fight for things: Izaac holding onto a toy, Amilie snatched from him. Izaac holding tightly (He is strong!).Amilie tried to snatch again. Shouting from both little Tangs. Amilie ran off with her prize. Izaac’s crying away.
3) Fight for seat: Wanted to let Izaac to sit on the pram while we can do things. Amilie purposely climb up to the pram so Izaac had to sit another smaller stroller.
4) Izaac lying on the bed, Amilie also want to lie down beside him. Izaac pushed her away. Pushing begins. Pushing not enough. Kicking’s next…
I guessed there will be more in the future. And that’s what siblings rivalry are about huh?
CNY Shopping
Saturday brought the 2 little ones shopping for CNY clothings. Spent the morning preparing the things, had our lunches. Then after lunches, with 1 big bag, 1 pram, 1 maid, 1 toddler & 1 baby off we go.
Thinking that I would be spending alot later on, I decided to take the MRT instead of the usual cab. So with Amilie in the pram, the maid pushing her, and me carrying Izaac with the carrier. We walked to the MRT station to Bugis.
When we got on the MRT, Izaac, being 1st time taking the MRT, looked around curiously. I was offered a seat (Thanks to the kind gentleman) but declined as I find my pram would probably get in the way of others.
The Kids Department @ Seiyu was crowded with parents shopping for CNY clothings for children. Put Izaac on the pram & Amilie running around as I search for suitable clothings & only managed to get 2 pieces for Izaac & 1 set of Disney clothings for Amilie. Amilie was restless after all the running (Thank goodness!), let her took a rest on the pram while I carried Izaac with the carrier.
Went to the men’s section to buy some shirts for hubby. Queue for the payment was extremely long, so ask my maid to wait at the bench near the lift for me. Finally paid for the things and as I am not satisfied with what I bought, I decided to go Suntec to continue.
Stopped @ Shaw Tower to let the 2 little Tangs have porridge.
Had a hard time carrying the pram and Izaac up the stairs. At Suntec, abit rush of time. Spent my last 1 hour at Fox Fashion. That’s where I know how Amilie can run about & yah! scream about. How I become a screaming mother… or hah! I simply bochap.
Ok, I had my day, so decided to head home.
I guess I need some time to forget how I behaved like a mad woman in public before I dare to bring them out to shopping during the festive seasons again. ![]()
Life Saving Question
Valentine’s Day is just around 2 weeks away. Recently received a forwarded email from a friend. Just like to share 1.
It’s a answer to a very common question on who to save when both the mum & wife were to be drowning in the sea. Find the answer very sweet… Haha Probably guys can use it if their wives asked the next time huh?
It’s translated as (Sorry if the translation sound weird): If mum & wife fell into the river, I would save my mum. As my mum was the one who gave me my life, there isn’t any reason for me to not save her. If my wife did not survive, I could follow her. And we would continue our love story in the other world….
