Izaac’s 3 Years Old Development Assessment

Izaac went for his 3 years old development assessment on 20th June 2009. His certificate of vaccination was stapled in his health booklet and was told by the nurse not to lose the certificate as he will need it when registering to school maybe even up to university. His weight is 14kg and height 96cm. He is growing well according to the nurse. The nurse used a small torchlight and asked Izaac to follow the light to see whether there was any squint. Everything is fine for Izaac.

She also asked whether Izaac is able to climb up the stairs without assistance and whether he is able to speak in sentences with 4 syllables. Next she asked whether he is taking rice and also advised that to encourage him to drink the milk from cup instead from the milk bottle as it might affect the development of the teeth. The nurse also said that music can improve his memory.

The Kids Had Their Own Costumes

What to do when they are bored with their usual toys? They self-entertained themselves with anything they can find and have their own make-believed costumes.

Penguin Izaac
The first day, Izaac was all wrapped up with towels and wearing a pair of sunglasses waddling liked a penguin. They told us that he was a penguin.

Robot Izaac
The next day, Izaac put on the square sized box made from the alphabets and imitating the sound of a robot.

Little Indian Boy
And finally, the kids got some balloons and put it on Izaac’s hat and declared that he was Indian boy. I asked him to make a Superman Pose and he was enjoying the photo-taking of his new costumes.

Keke. It’s really brought laughter when we saw the kids making the costumes and I think it’s creative of them to use everyday’s life items and have fun making their own costumes. And I think they can think of something for their Halloween next time. ;-)

7th Prenatal Visit on 20th June 2009

It’s been 3 weeks since the last visit to the Gynea. This time, we brought Izaac along to the Gynae. The nurse asked about the hospital for delivery as they had to book the room for me. As it was the 3rd birth and I am still very satisfied with my previous stay at Thomson Medical Centre, I told the nurse that I wanted to deliver at TMC and stay in a four-bedded room. Its Izaac’s first time seeing the baby in mummy’s tummy from the screen. After the visit, the only thing on his mind is the dinosaur on the Gynea’s table, not much word mention on his view of the baby.

My weight is around 49kg. I had gained 2kg since 3 weeks ago. That’s good news for me. Everybody’s saying the tummy is getting bigger. Some saying that maybe the gender of the baby is a boy instead of a girl as the tummy is sharp instead of round; old wives’ tale of predicting whether the gender of the baby by looking at the shape of the tummy. Another colleagues of mine said that my nose is bigger now, meaning that I would be giving birth soon.

31st week pregnant, I am having frequent trips to toilet, sometimes in the middle of the night. I ever dreamt that I had given birth, probably due to talks about giving birth during the day. (Started to feel nervous whenever I think about giving birth) I am feeling uncomfortable sleeping and had to turn from side to side a few times before I find myself a considerable good position and falling to sleep.

6th Prenatal Visit on 28th May 2009

Scan Taken on 28/05/09
I am about 28 weeks pregnant now. Mummy’s weight is 47kg and Dr Chan said baby’s weight about 1kg. It should be a small baby like my second pregnancy. From the scan, the weight indicates 1059g. I compared against Amilie’s and Izaac’s and it’s around the same as Izaac’s. I could feel more and more movement of the baby now.

Still feeling tired easily and appetite had not changed much. I had not much cravings for food on wee hours. Just that sometimes we would order delivery when feeling hungry in the middle of the night. I feel thirsty most of the time and I kept drinking a lot of water to quench my thirst. In return, sometimes, I would wake up in the middle of the night and unable to get back to sleep after going to the toilet.

My next visit will be 3 weeks later as of 28th May 2009.

Just some thought:
I went for Manicure and Pedicure recently and the manicurist told me that some of her customer don’t do nail polish when they are pregnant or within one month after they had given birth. I wasn’t sure about it. So I went home to do a research about it. It seems that there were saying that the chemicals in the nail polish that could be harmful to the fetal development but there were no prove of it yet. Some articles do indicate that it’s alright to polish the nails but it’s better to do it at a well-ventilated salon.

So whether is nail polish safe for pregnancies, it’s up to the individual to decide. I guessed I won’t be going for the next manicure and pedicure after my confinement now.

Birthday Celebration on 24th May 2009

Xiumin & Yong Lian Birthday Celebration 2009

We gathered at my friend’s house for a belated birthday celebration of 2 of my friends, Xiumin & Yong Lian. Brought the kids along and of course the kids were happy about it. As Yong Lian had just given birth to Shannon not long ago and it was the first time the kids saw the Shannon.

They were happy to ‘play’ with Shannon and even took a picture with her with her daddy’s help on letting her sit on both of the kids lap.

Potty To Toilet

Toilet Training For Izaac
Other when they are asleep, the rest of the time, the children potty trained. They are able to use the potty and able to hold themselves when they want to go to toilet. Recently, we decided to change to let the kids use the toilet instead of the potty.

We bought a child toilet seat for the kids so that they will not feel that they are going to fall down into the toilet bowl when they used the toilet. For the first few days, both the kids were alright using the toilet for peeing but they had problems when it comes to poo.

Amilie was able to overcome that after a few days of letting her sit at the toilet seat and now she does not use the potty anymore but Izaac couldn’t poo when he sits on the toilet seat. Couldn’t really understand what’s the reason was. At first, I thought that he was not used to using the toilet seat but once when we were at my friend’s house, he did poo at the toilet.

Too bad, when he was back at home, he still couldn’t poo. He preferred to poo at the comfort of his small potty than at the toilet. Guess he would need some time before he is ready to use the toilet. And the next step for Amilie is to stop using diapers at night instead.

Izaac’s Birthday Celebration & Father’s Day Celebration

Izaac's 3rd Birthday At Home

14th June is Izaac’s birthday and also happened to be Father’s Day that day. Though Izaac had celebrated his birthday in school on Friday, I still wanted to help him have a small celebration at home on his actual birthday.

In the afternoon, I went to buy a small cake from Crystal Jade (No ice-cream cake this year) for Izaac. Izaac is happy of course. And Amilie was asking me why didi have 2 birthdays. And I told her that she will be having 2 birthday celebrations next year too.

Izaac Learn A Song In Class

Recently, Izaac told me that his teacher taught him a new song. Then he started singing for me and even did it with actions. It’s really cute to see him doing it. Tried to record down his singing but he was a bit shy to do the actions and he wasn’t familiar with the last verse of the song.

Here’s the video clip of Izaac’s singing.

Izaac
Today’s Izaac’s 3rd Birthday. On Friday, it happened to be Izaac’s last day of playgroup before the 2 weeks school holidays, we decided to help him celebrate his birthday in advance in school. 1 week before the actual day, which was 12th of June, Izaac was all excited about it. He saw that we had bought the items for goodie bags and kept asking whether those were for his birthday.

5th Prenatal Visit on 8th May 2009

It’s another visit to the Gynae. Baby about 24th week old and my weight had increased to 43kg. Checked with Gynae what’s the baby’s weight but he told us that still unable to weigh the baby, roughly around 600g.

The Gynae measured the head and told us that the baby is fine. Below is the scan of the baby.
Scan Taken on 08/05/09

My appetite remained the same. Prefer eating cakes a lot and had stop liking potato chips. I had grown out of potato chips. The weather is getting warmer every night, sometimes woke up all sweaty. I would wake up in the middle of the night to on the air-conditioner to get back to sleep.

Sometimes I would feel a bit of the baby but not as much as when I was pregnant with Izaac.

Next visit will be 4 weeks later.
