As our internet connection was down for awhile, I was not able to surf and blog. Even after the connection was back to normal, I could not help but feel sleepy whenever I wanted to use the laptop.

9th Prenatal Visit on 17th July 2009

Scan Taken on 17/07/09

Mummy’s weight: 51kg
Baby’s weight: 2303g

Dr Chan said that still got at least 2 and a half weeks to go. That seems like so long to me. Dr Chan measured the water and say everything is alright. He asked me what picture I wanted of the baby but I did not have any idea so he printed out the backbone instead. keke
Next visit is to be 2 weeks later.

10th Prenatal Visit on 1st August 2009

It’s time for my prenatal visit again. I had gained another 1.5kg within 2 weeks. Dr Chan told us that he will not be in Singapore from 9th August till 16th August. As the previous 2 birth was always early by 1 to 2 weeks, so now we had to wait and see when the baby want to come out and if the baby intends to come out when Dr Chan wasn’t in Singapore, his brother will be delivering for me.

So coincident that he will not be around in Singapore this time round. For my 2nd birth, it happened that he was on holiday when Izaac came out and his brother wasn’t around in Singapore too. In the end, it was their friend that did the delivery for me.

Currently, we could only wait for the baby and see when the baby wants to come out. keke

Next visit will be 1 week later.

Yippee!! 33 weeks pregnant, another 1 month plus and the baby would be out to see the world. As we had some errands to run after the prenatal check-up, we didn’t let the kids follow us to the Gynea.

My weight is now 50kg, had gained 1kg over the past 2 weeks. Dr Chan first measured the baby’s legs and the head. Dr Chan zoomed in on the baby’s face after he had measured the baby. I had a hard time figuring out the parts on the face as the screen seems dark. Seems like Dr Chan had got a new machine and we got a chance to see Dr Chan in 3D. We can see a clear view of eyes and nose but too bad the mouth was blocked. It’s really interesting to see the baby in 3D! Dr Chan told us that this time he gave us for free but next time he would have to charge us. keke According to him, it will be a small baby, weighing about 2.8kg when she came out of.

For the 33rd weeks of pregnancy, baby is practicing breathing to exercise the lungs. Baby can listen, hear and see. The bones are hardening now except for the skull, which is still quite pliable and not completely joined, to ease out of the relatively narrow birth canal. Baby’s skin is also gradually becoming less red and wrinkled.

For me, I could feel the Braxton contraction now and then. It’s also hard to find a good position to sleep or lie down with a big tummy. Still having backache and I could not stand long without feeling giddy sometimes, feeling very tired easily, sometimes thinking is it that age had catch up?

Well, the next visit to the Gynea will be in 2 weeks time.

Fu Xing Claypot Xiao Chi @ Ah Seah Eating House

We happened to come across Ah Seah Eating House at Kovan Centre one afternoon while looking for some place for lunch. The first time we went there, we tried the stall next to the drinks stall, a stall selling claypot food. The stall name is “Fu Xing Claypot Xiao Chi”, Stall #6, according to the signboard. We each ordered a different set of claypot dish and we ate till very full that day, agreeing that we should have ordered a set and share instead.

Sliced Fish Soup Set
So the second time we went there, we ordered the Sliced Fish Soup set that cost $10. The set consists of the Sliced Fish Soup, Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken, Vegetables and 2 bowls of rice.

Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken
My favorite dish is the Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken. It’s just taste yummy and really suits my taste bud. I think I would miss this dish when I was on confinement.

Vegetables
The vegetables were normal and I prefer the claypot tofu that was included in the pomfret soup set. Not sure whether they could change the vegetables to claypot tofu instead.

Sliced Fish Soup
The slices of fish in the sliced fish soup were fresh and it’s alright for someone who doesn’t know how to eat fish. The soup is considered “cooling” as it’s cooked with bitter gourd.

Checklist For Baby

32 weeks pregnant now, we have started to prepare for things in welcoming the new baby. So in preparation for the new baby, I had created for myself a checklist. In case we missed out on any items.

For Sleep:
Baby Crib & Mattress – Using back the crib that the kids used the other time. Bought new crib form mattress with ventilation recently.
Mattress Sheet Cover – Bought 2 extra covers apart from the sheets.
Pillow & Bolster (Optional) – 1 small pillow & 2 bolsters in a set
Casing for Pillow & Bolster – Bought matching cases as the mattress sheet cover
Blanket/Comforter – We still had the blankets that the kids used when they were just a baby. We bought a new comforter that match with the new pillow case.

Clothing
I had to buy some new sets of clothes for the baby as I had passed all the clothes to relatives or friends. As baby grows very fast, I prefer Hand-Me-Down clothes. However, I wasn’t able to find who is able to pass down their baby clothes this time. Anyone got any good condition Hand-Me-Down clothes? keke
Pajamas – Bought 2 piece set as I think it’s easier to change out of
Short sleeves shirt – A few shirt to be worn during the day. Prefer button shirt as it’s easier to change out when the baby is lying down.
Shorts – Bought a few but think the frequency of wear short is few as baby will be using cloth diapers.
Booties & Mittens – Bought a lot of mittens base on past 2 experiences as the babies tend to suck their hand.

Diapering
Cloth Diapers – The cloth diapers will be used during the day time at home
Disposable Diapers – The disposable diaper will be used during the night and also when going out.
Diaper Liner – For the use of cloth diapers and easier to wash the cloth diapers if the baby poo.
Wet Wipes – Will be ordering a few cartons from Cheong Choon as it will be cheaper.

Bath
Bath & Face Towels – We haven’t bought the towels yet. Think have to get the towels some day.
Shampoo & Bath – Will be using the same shampoo and bath as the kids.

Feeding
Bottles – 1 for milk another small 1 for the water.

Baby Gear
Pram – Still using back the pram which the kids used as it was still in good condition
Car Seat – We had a baby carrier which can be used as a car seat for the baby which we bought when Amilie was a baby.

Well, I think that’s all the items I need for the baby. Hope I did not miss out any!

BBQ Chicken @ Downtown East

We went to Downtown East for dinner and decide to eat at BBQ Chicken. As there were 3 adults and 2 kids, we decided to order the Combo Jumbo Family Meal which consists of 8 pieces of combination of “Original Crispy”, “Hot Hot Drum” & “Korean Charbroiled Chicken”. The combo set consists of the French fries and coleslaw.
3 Different Types of Chicken
Coleslaw & French Fries

The waiting time wasn’t long before we were served with our dinner. The fries and coleslaw were placed our table first. We ate the coleslaw after we had the chicken.

Choosing Crib Mattress

Baby Crib Without Mattress
Finally we had fixed up the baby crib which was passed back to us from our relative after we passed to them 3 years back. The baby crib which could be converted to a toddler bed was still in good condition after 4 years. The only thing that we need to get for the baby crib is the mattress. As baby’s bones are softest and growing faster than any other time, baby will need extra support for their growing bodies more now than they ever will later. Therefore, choosing a good mattress is important.

Here are some of the factors that need to consider when choosing a baby crib mattress:

1. The size of the mattress.
- The mattress should fit fairly tight inside the crib. There shouldn’t be an obvious gap between the crib frame and mattress, and we shouldn’t be able to push more than one finger down in between the mattress and crib frame. Remember to measure the inside of the crib and measure against the crib mattress. This is to prevent accidents like baby’s head, hands or legs to be trapped.

Jimb’s Delights Western Food @ Tiong Bahru Plaza Kopitiam

It’s been awhile since I had updated on yummy food.

Went to Tiong Bahru Plaza few weeks back and it seems that there was a new western food stall open (Not sure how long ago :-P )

Anyway, decided to try the western food since I had not tried before. I tried the Chicken Cutlet set @ $6.50.

Chicken Cutlet from Jim's Delight's Western Food
The chicken cutlet is quite small in portion. There’s also the usual salad and fries. I would say that the chicken cutlet is quite common taste.

Cream of Mushroom from Jim's Delight's Western Food
The set comes with a bowl of cream of mushroom.

Though there was nothing special of the chicken cutlet set, I am still tempted to try the other dishes from the same stall.

Izaac’s 3 Years Old Development Assessment

Izaac went for his 3 years old development assessment on 20th June 2009. His certificate of vaccination was stapled in his health booklet and was told by the nurse not to lose the certificate as he will need it when registering to school maybe even up to university. His weight is 14kg and height 96cm. He is growing well according to the nurse. The nurse used a small torchlight and asked Izaac to follow the light to see whether there was any squint. Everything is fine for Izaac.

She also asked whether Izaac is able to climb up the stairs without assistance and whether he is able to speak in sentences with 4 syllables. Next she asked whether he is taking rice and also advised that to encourage him to drink the milk from cup instead from the milk bottle as it might affect the development of the teeth. The nurse also said that music can improve his memory.

The Kids Had Their Own Costumes

What to do when they are bored with their usual toys? They self-entertained themselves with anything they can find and have their own make-believed costumes.

Penguin Izaac
The first day, Izaac was all wrapped up with towels and wearing a pair of sunglasses waddling liked a penguin. They told us that he was a penguin.

Robot Izaac
The next day, Izaac put on the square sized box made from the alphabets and imitating the sound of a robot.

Little Indian Boy
And finally, the kids got some balloons and put it on Izaac’s hat and declared that he was Indian boy. I asked him to make a Superman Pose and he was enjoying the photo-taking of his new costumes.

Keke. It’s really brought laughter when we saw the kids making the costumes and I think it’s creative of them to use everyday’s life items and have fun making their own costumes. And I think they can think of something for their Halloween next time. ;-)

7th Prenatal Visit on 20th June 2009

It’s been 3 weeks since the last visit to the Gynea. This time, we brought Izaac along to the Gynae. The nurse asked about the hospital for delivery as they had to book the room for me. As it was the 3rd birth and I am still very satisfied with my previous stay at Thomson Medical Centre, I told the nurse that I wanted to deliver at TMC and stay in a four-bedded room. Its Izaac’s first time seeing the baby in mummy’s tummy from the screen. After the visit, the only thing on his mind is the dinosaur on the Gynea’s table, not much word mention on his view of the baby.

My weight is around 49kg. I had gained 2kg since 3 weeks ago. That’s good news for me. Everybody’s saying the tummy is getting bigger. Some saying that maybe the gender of the baby is a boy instead of a girl as the tummy is sharp instead of round; old wives’ tale of predicting whether the gender of the baby by looking at the shape of the tummy. Another colleagues of mine said that my nose is bigger now, meaning that I would be giving birth soon.

31st week pregnant, I am having frequent trips to toilet, sometimes in the middle of the night. I ever dreamt that I had given birth, probably due to talks about giving birth during the day. (Started to feel nervous whenever I think about giving birth) I am feeling uncomfortable sleeping and had to turn from side to side a few times before I find myself a considerable good position and falling to sleep.
