Dr Chan had asked whether want to induce or to wait for the baby to choose the date to come out. I am very tempted to opt for the induce but decided against, decided to wait for the time that baby want to come out.

If the baby doesn’t want to come out after the due date. Then I will go for induce. Since it’s only 1 week to go.. and a torturing week. Having backache and tiredness and everything.

With the baby putting on weight, it’s getting more tiring to carry the baby around. Hubby asked about the weight of the baby but Dr Chan say can’t tell. Have to wait till the baby’s out then will know.

Everyone is saying my tummy had gone down already. Now, only waiting for the baby to come out but it seems that she is enjoying herself in the womb that she doesn’t want to come out till full term. But mummy wished that she could come out anytime. Hehe

I had also packed the bag to be brought along to the hospital. Inside the bag are 2 sets of clothes for my stay in the hospital. Not bringing any extra toiletries as they did provide it in the hospital. Not forgetting the camera to be charged and had to remind myself to bring along the phone charger as I knew that the phone would be busy.

We had finally settled on the name and well I would disclose the name and the meaning of the name when the baby is out. keke

Next visit to the gynae will be 1 week later but I hope that I could see the gynae at the hospital this week instead at the clinic. hehe

9th Prenatal Visit on 17th July 2009

Mummy’s weight: 51kg
Baby’s weight: 2303g

Dr Chan said that still got at least 2 and a half weeks to go. That seems like so long to me. Dr Chan measured the water and say everything is alright. He asked me what picture I wanted of the baby but I did not have any idea so he printed out the backbone instead. keke
Next visit is to be 2 weeks later.

10th Prenatal Visit on 1st August 2009

It’s time for my prenatal visit again. I had gained another 1.5kg within 2 weeks. Dr Chan told us that he will not be in Singapore from 9th August till 16th August. As the previous 2 birth was always early by 1 to 2 weeks, so now we had to wait and see when the baby want to come out and if the baby intends to come out when Dr Chan wasn’t in Singapore, his brother will be delivering for me.

So coincident that he will not be around in Singapore this time round. For my 2nd birth, it happened that he was on holiday when Izaac came out and his brother wasn’t around in Singapore too. In the end, it was their friend that did the delivery for me.

Currently, we could only wait for the baby and see when the baby wants to come out. keke

Next visit will be 1 week later.

My weight is now 50kg, had gained 1kg over the past 2 weeks. Dr Chan first measured the baby’s legs and the head. Dr Chan zoomed in on the baby’s face after he had measured the baby. I had a hard time figuring out the parts on the face as the screen seems dark. Seems like Dr Chan had got a new machine and we got a chance to see Dr Chan in 3D. We can see a clear view of eyes and nose but too bad the mouth was blocked. It’s really interesting to see the baby in 3D! Dr Chan told us that this time he gave us for free but next time he would have to charge us. keke According to him, it will be a small baby, weighing about 2.8kg when she came out of.

For the 33rd weeks of pregnancy, baby is practicing breathing to exercise the lungs. Baby can listen, hear and see. The bones are hardening now except for the skull, which is still quite pliable and not completely joined, to ease out of the relatively narrow birth canal. Baby’s skin is also gradually becoming less red and wrinkled.

For me, I could feel the Braxton contraction now and then. It’s also hard to find a good position to sleep or lie down with a big tummy. Still having backache and I could not stand long without feeling giddy sometimes, feeling very tired easily, sometimes thinking is it that age had catch up?

Well, the next visit to the Gynea will be in 2 weeks time.

We happened to come across Ah Seah Eating House at Kovan Centre one afternoon while looking for some place for lunch. The first time we went there, we tried the stall next to the drinks stall, a stall selling claypot food. The stall name is “Fu Xing Claypot Xiao Chi”, Stall #6, according to the signboard. We each ordered a different set of claypot dish and we ate till very full that day, agreeing that we should have ordered a set and share instead.

So the second time we went there, we ordered the Sliced Fish Soup set that cost $10. The set consists of the Sliced Fish Soup, Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken, Vegetables and 2 bowls of rice.

My favorite dish is the Claypot Sesame Oil Chicken. It’s just taste yummy and really suits my taste bud. I think I would miss this dish when I was on confinement.

The vegetables were normal and I prefer the claypot tofu that was included in the pomfret soup set. Not sure whether they could change the vegetables to claypot tofu instead.

The slices of fish in the sliced fish soup were fresh and it’s alright for someone who doesn’t know how to eat fish. The soup is considered “cooling” as it’s cooked with bitter gourd.

32 weeks pregnant now, we have started to prepare for things in welcoming the new baby. So in preparation for the new baby, I had created for myself a checklist. In case we missed out on any items.

For Sleep:
Baby Crib & Mattress – Using back the crib that the kids used the other time. Bought new crib form mattress with ventilation recently.
Mattress Sheet Cover – Bought 2 extra covers apart from the sheets.
Pillow & Bolster (Optional) – 1 small pillow & 2 bolsters in a set
Casing for Pillow & Bolster – Bought matching cases as the mattress sheet cover
Blanket/Comforter – We still had the blankets that the kids used when they were just a baby. We bought a new comforter that match with the new pillow case.

Clothing
I had to buy some new sets of clothes for the baby as I had passed all the clothes to relatives or friends. As baby grows very fast, I prefer Hand-Me-Down clothes. However, I wasn’t able to find who is able to pass down their baby clothes this time. Anyone got any good condition Hand-Me-Down clothes? keke
Pajamas – Bought 2 piece set as I think it’s easier to change out of
Short sleeves shirt – A few shirt to be worn during the day. Prefer button shirt as it’s easier to change out when the baby is lying down.
Shorts – Bought a few but think the frequency of wear short is few as baby will be using cloth diapers.
Booties & Mittens – Bought a lot of mittens base on past 2 experiences as the babies tend to suck their hand.

Diapering
Cloth Diapers – The cloth diapers will be used during the day time at home
Disposable Diapers – The disposable diaper will be used during the night and also when going out.
Diaper Liner – For the use of cloth diapers and easier to wash the cloth diapers if the baby poo.
Wet Wipes – Will be ordering a few cartons from Cheong Choon as it will be cheaper.

Bath
Bath & Face Towels – We haven’t bought the towels yet. Think have to get the towels some day.
Shampoo & Bath – Will be using the same shampoo and bath as the kids.

Feeding
Bottles – 1 for milk another small 1 for the water.

Baby Gear
Pram – Still using back the pram which the kids used as it was still in good condition
Car Seat – We had a baby carrier which can be used as a car seat for the baby which we bought when Amilie was a baby.

Well, I think that’s all the items I need for the baby. Hope I did not miss out any!

We went to Downtown East for dinner and decide to eat at BBQ Chicken. As there were 3 adults and 2 kids, we decided to order the Combo Jumbo Family Meal which consists of 8 pieces of combination of “Original Crispy”, “Hot Hot Drum” & “Korean Charbroiled Chicken”. The combo set consists of the French fries and coleslaw.

The waiting time wasn’t long before we were served with our dinner. The fries and coleslaw were placed our table first. We ate the coleslaw after we had the chicken.

I tried the Korean Charbroiled Chicken and I liked the taste a lot. The sauce that was used to marinate for the Korean Charbroiled Chicken was sweet and nice. It was definitely to my liking.

The original crispy was different from the crispy chicken at KFC. The chicken was nice but I still prefer the charbroiled chicken I had. The kids had the original crispy and do they like it?

Sure they do!

The last chicken is the hot drum. I did not taste that as according to hubby, it was very spicy. It was actually the original crispy chicken drum spread with the spicy chili sauce. However, our helper was able to take the spiciness of the chicken.

See how hubby’s picture after eating the spicy hot drum.

Something to mention for the side dish, the coleslaw, it was very delicious and tasty and hubby finished the whole plate alone.

Well, one thing is the cost of the meal, it’s much costly as compared to the regular family fast-food and we would think it’s not a meal that can be eaten every other day.

Finally we had fixed up the baby crib which was passed back to us from our relative after we passed to them 3 years back. The baby crib which could be converted to a toddler bed was still in good condition after 4 years. The only thing that we need to get for the baby crib is the mattress. As baby’s bones are softest and growing faster than any other time, baby will need extra support for their growing bodies more now than they ever will later. Therefore, choosing a good mattress is important.

Here are some of the factors that need to consider when choosing a baby crib mattress:

1.	The size of the mattress.
-	The mattress should fit fairly tight inside the crib. There shouldn’t be an obvious gap between the crib frame and mattress, and we shouldn’t be able to push more than one finger down in between the mattress and crib frame. Remember to measure the inside of the crib and measure against the crib mattress. This is to prevent accidents like baby’s head, hands or legs to be trapped.

2.	Mattress should be firm.
-	Push down on the mattress and see how much your hand sinks into the mattress. The more resistance, the firmer the mattress. Babies need a more solid sleep surface since they can’t move themselves out of positions where their face sinks into the mattress if they get turned over.

3.	Types of Mattress

-	Foam Mattress
o	Made of Polyether or Polyester
o	Cheaper
o	Lighter this made it easier when changing of mattress sheets.

-	Choosing Good Quality Foam Mattress
o	The weight of the foam mattress, the heavier the mattress = the denser the mattress
o	The firmness of the foam mattress, the firmer the mattress the better. Pick up the mattress and try to squeeze the mattress from both sides, the harder to squeeze the mattress, the firmer it is.
o	The resiliency of the foam mattress, the faster the mattress is able to regain its original shape when the weight is removed, the better the mattress is.

-	Innerspring Mattress or Coil Mattress
o	Keep shape longer and can last longer
o	More expensive
o	Heavier

-	Choosing Good Quality Foam Mattress
o	The number of coils or springs, the more coils or springs (usually more than 150 coils), the firmer the mattress is.
o	The mattress which has border rods surrounding the edges of the mattress. The border rods provide a better weight distribution over the surface of the mattress and avoid sagging over time.
o	Layers on top of the spring, which add cushioning and softness to the mattress and to prevent the cushion from sinking into the mattress over time.

4.	The Mattress Cover
-	Multi-layer covers are more durable. It is best to have nylon reinforcement within the layer, in this way; it will last longer as it can give it the right kind of stretch and ability. Some of the crib mattresses also have anti-microbial and anti-allergic cover which could be worth investing for.

5.	Vents
-	Most of the better quality mattress has vents as vents allow the mattress to breathe and prevent the mattress from bursting when the child jumps on the mattress. It will keep the mattress smelling fresh by venting out the odor. However, the vents might allow airborne particles to enter the mattress.

Finally, a good point to consider when choosing the mattress, it does not mean that a high cost and has a long warranty means a good mattress. It is important to read the label for specifications and choose the mattress that is best for the baby.

Well, hope we could be able get the right mattress for the baby so that baby is able to sleep well. So do you get a good mattress for your baby?

Went to Tiong Bahru Plaza few weeks back and it seems that there was a new western food stall open (Not sure how long ago )

Anyway, decided to try the western food since I had not tried before. I tried the Chicken Cutlet set @ $6.50.

The chicken cutlet is quite small in portion. There’s also the usual salad and fries. I would say that the chicken cutlet is quite common taste.

The set comes with a bowl of cream of mushroom.

Though there was nothing special of the chicken cutlet set, I am still tempted to try the other dishes from the same stall.
